How To Build a Relationship With Your Local Consumers
August 26, 2016Instagram Marketing Tips To Bring Your Page To The Next Level
August 31, 2016Spam has been an ongoing issue for consumers since advertising started banking on the ‘more is more’ philosophy. Now, it’s spread to the digital realm, taking over emails and social media. Even Facebook Pages have been hit with spam, causing comments sections and pages to be inundated with unrelated links and posts. Don’t let your page be taken over; follow our 3Rs in fighting spam.
1) Removing
The first step in dealing with spam has to be removing them. If you allow your page to be overrun by spam, the perception of your page will be one of disarray and neglect. New visitors will be unable to find information they need, and will lose faith that you are in-charge of your business. Ensure that your page is organized and a clear reflection of your brand.
2) Restricting
If spam from the same users continue even after you keep removing their posts, don’t hesitate to block them. Restricting their access to your account makes it impossible to send you messages or post on your page, even in the comments section. Of course, do your due diligence and ensure that the account is actually a spam account. Most spam accounts exist just to post spam on pages, so your page won’t be the only one suffering. Block them from harassing your business.
3) Reporting
If the type of spam consists of abusive language in any way, though, you should consider reporting the users. Sharing dangerous links, spreading hate speech or more will violate the Facebook Community Guidelines and put other users of your page in a hostile environment, so click on the “Report Post As Abuse” line. Know that this is the most severe of the three spam fighting techniques, so only do it in serious instances where your visitors (or your business administrators) feel threatened.
